⠀ Excited? Amazing? Peace?⠀
⠀ I would choose love. Love feels better than any other emotion, I think. ⠀
⠀ And the cool thing is that it's available to us at any time, if we decide we want to feel it.⠀ ⠀ Even when he's in a bad mood. Even when he doesn't seem to be putting your needs first. Even when your teenager lies or steals from you. Or when your daughter's behaviors humiliate you.⠀ ⠀ For some crazy reason, we choose not to feel love. ⠀ ⠀ But it only hurts ourselves when we do this.⠀ ⠀ We think that if we withhold love, it somehow teaches the other person, or hurts them. We also think that if we let ourselves feel love, it's going to benefit them. But neither is the case. ⠀ ⠀ We act like when we love someone, the other person is taking something from us that they don't deserve. ⠀ ⠀ But love doesn't work that way. When we love someone, we are the ones who get to experience that emotion, and they get to experience their own. ⠀
⠀ When you feel apathy or hate, you get to experience that all by yourself. It's not what we're after, necessarily...but it's what happens.
What would change for you if you just loved people for your own sake? How different would things be?⠀ ⠀
I know it seems like your situation is an exception to all of this. I get it. I was there...for YEARS. ⠀ ⠀ But I’m here to help you access love if you need help. Let’s talk. ⠀
