How to Feel Better

Today, I want to share something with you that might blow your mind.

I used to think that I would feel happier once I lost 15 pounds.⠀ ⠀ But then when I was in my 30’s, I taught fitness classes and got skinny. ⠀ ⠀ And guess what? It didn’t make me any happier. ⠀ Later, when my older kids started going through their teen years and making choices that I didn’t like... and my special needs kids were struggling so much to learn certain things...I thought that I could find the magic way to fix them and they would change...and that would make me feel better.⠀ ⠀ But that belief only made me feel awful...because it didn’t work. I soon figured out that I can’t change my kids by controlling them. ⠀ ⠀ We think that if we find the magic thing to *do* it will help us feel better. But feelings don’t come from actions. They come from thoughts.⠀ ⠀ So here are three questions to ask yourself when you want to feel better about something:⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣ What am I feeling now?⠀ ⠀ 2️⃣ How do I 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 to feel about it? ⠀ ⠀ (Sometimes you don’t want to feel better...and that’s totally OK.)⠀ ⠀ 3️⃣ What would help me generate that feeling right now?⠀ ⠀ Then check yourself. Are you focused on something outside of yourself that you need to achieve, or fix? ⠀ ⠀ Or can you actually believe that you can create that very emotion right now...without 𝘧𝘪𝘹𝘪𝘯𝘨 a single thing? ⠀ Guess what? You can. ⠀ This secret has changed everything for me. ⠀ ⠀ I don’t have to wait to have or DO something in order to feel better. I can feel better right now if I choose.⠀ ⠀ Emotions are created by us. Not our circumstances. ⠀ ⠀ Also, they are FOR us. ⠀ ⠀ If we want to feel peace about something, we can think about things that make us feel peace on purpose. We will then feel peace more often. Maybe not all the time, but more often.⠀ ⠀ If we want to feel confident, we can think about things that make us feel confident, and we will experience that feeling more often.⠀ ⠀ The key to feeling better is in our minds!⠀ ⠀ How do you want to feel today? It might be worth giving it some thought. ⠀
